About Alaura
I took my first-ever portraits ten years ago for a high school photo class, and I'm still amused that one scheduling decision set me on my life course.
As a teen, I staged opulent portraits inspired by costume dramas, which paved the way for fashion work, event bookings, and my first wedding in 2015. I graduated from Northwestern University (Go 'Cats!) and began working for a luxury wedding design firm, but I quickly found that I wanted to be closer to the action (and the sparkles and the flowers). So, I took a leap and went full-time with Alaura Creative, and I haven't looked back since! Creating art for my job is truly a passion, and I am honored to capture special moments for special people.
I adore Chicago’s sites and architecture, which greatly influence my work, and admit you may hear a historical fact during any given session. While I often use the city as a backdrop, I also book sessions in my private in-home studio, where I live with my husband, Shiba Inu, 2 cats, and 6 backyard chickens. When I'm not working, you’ll probably find me in the garden, an antique store, or at the Green Mill Cocktail Lounge for Big Band Thursdays.
